HISTORY PRESERVATION

The Iowa Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation is dedicated to ensuring that the sacrifices, stories, and lessons of America’s military history are preserved and shared for generations to come. Through our History Preservation initiative, we conduct and fund scholarly research on U.S. military history, with particular attention to the experiences of Iowa’s service members and Veterans whose courage and commitment have shaped both our state and nation.

Our mission extends beyond documentation; we are committed to education and engagement. The Foundation supports programs, lectures, exhibits, and community events that bring history to life, connecting Iowans of all ages with the enduring values of service, sacrifice, and patriotism. By fostering partnerships with historians, educators, Veterans organizations, and academic institutions, we aim to expand public understanding of military service and its profound impact on American freedom, global protection, and the quest for world peace.

Through this ongoing work, the Iowa Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation seeks not only to preserve the past but to inspire the future, ensuring that the legacy of America’s defenders remains a living part of our collective identity and civic life.
